CAU’s Athletic Director and staff decides it was time for a change. It’s been over two decades and Clark Atlanta University has not added any renovations to the football field or track.

With more students attending Clark Atlanta University each year, more funding is being added to various parts of the institution, from the dorms, to the athletic departments and even parts of the academic buildings.  J. Lin Dawson explains why getting a new track and football field renovations are so important to the school.

“We not only want a place where our student athletes can have a place to train and compete, but a place for our students to focus on wellness and the community to be engaged in walking and running the track,” Dawson said.

He also shared how the events that Clark Atlanta University plans to have on the new Olympic track, “The track is going to be IBFF certified, so we are looking for Junior Olympics, National meets, senior gatherings, HBCU meets, special invitational meets and even conference championships.”

The track is just one of thirty-two renovations being done in the Athletic department at Clark Atlanta University. There are new bleachers and floors at Henderson gymnasium, the men’s and women’s locker rooms have been refurbished with new lockers, a study area, a player’s lounge and also a whole new tennis court to name a few. The pool in Henderson Gymnasium is one of the next big projects being worked on for the Athletic facilities.  

“We’re trying to make this not only an athletic department of choice, an investment of choice, but the institution of choice,” he said.

Clark Atlanta University is looking to have a whole new look in a few years with hopes to bring more students athletes to come play for the CAU Panthers.
